Wednesday(17th June 09)The first year students at SIBM,Bangalore today spent their evening coffee over a stimulating lecture series on "How to Become a Successful Entrepreneur" organized by CORE .During this lecture series two talks were delivered on the above topic by eminent industry experts first by Prof.Nandini Vaidyanathan (Professor of Entrepreneurship at IIM-B and Princeton) followed by Mr.Phanindra Sama (CEO-redbus.in).
Starting an Entrepreneurial Journey...........
Starting off was a powerpoint presentation by Prof.Nandini on "How to Become a Successful Entrepreneur" .It explained what were the basic qualities that go into making up of the entrepreneur. She also explained in depth the points we needed to focus on before starting a startup, starting with he biz plan,finance strategy,marketing strategy and so on.....The major point which she wanted to put forward was CHANGE that has happened in the last decade which has created a world of opportunity for us to start up new entrepreneurial ventures today.Her dream is to make india become that famous 'land of opportunity'.
Towards the end of the session, students had a question-answer session in which they asked regarding their buisness plans,mentorship programmes,VC funding etc.

After that we had the privilege to hear from Mr.Phanindra who started of with the presentation on "Why MBA" and went onto to explain in detail the several concepts and how MBA helps to be a successful entrepreneur. It enlightened us as to what all we need to learn while doing a MBA. He emphasized on core values of honesty and integrity which are integral to growth of a organization.Then he went on to add the use of prior work experience before doing an MBA and the way it can help us while starting our entrepreneurial journey.....After his brief presentation we had an opportunity to hear from Mr.Phaneendra the strory behind the making up of redbus.in
Next we had a prolonged question-answer session where students poured in with their questions on the making of redbus.in and what all lead to its rapid growth.Also the marketing strategy,finance strategy were touched upon.The important point Mr.Phaneendra wanted to put forward was not to loose our cool in trying times and just keep fighting because thats how entrepreneurial journeys are supposed to be!!!
